MAN JAILED FOR BEING A FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM

A Warrenton man was jailed for being a felon in possession of a firearm on Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 7:00 a.m. a deputy was contacted by A&S Towing and told that a gun was located in a vehicle it had towed a few hours earlier. The vehicle’s driver, 28-year old Kasey Newton, was attempting to get items from the truck that concealed the firearm. The man is prohibited from possessing firearms. A search warrant was executed on the vehicle and a gun was located. Newton was taken into custody by Myrtle Creek Police Department.

He was also held for a parole violation and was detained without bail.
