City of Roseburg Public Works crews will soon begin fall leaf pickup for homeowners.

A release said from November 1st through January 7th, leaves will be picked up free of charge.

Crews follow a cyclical, systematic route to assist residents with leaf disposal and to ensure that leaf collection can be provided in an effective cost-controlled program. Weekday leaf pickup begins in the Laurelwood Park neighborhood, moves west to the Harvard Avenue area and then goes in a clockwise direction, ending in the Mill-Pine Historic District.

The release said each cycle takes about a month, depending on the quantities of leaves picked up. The route is repeated throughout the roughly two-month program. Leaves must be piled neatly on the edge of property or out in the street away from the curb prior to pick up:

*Leaf piles must be free of debris such as branches and rocks, and not piled near cars,

*Keep street gutters, ditches, bike lanes and catch basins free of leaves.

*Public Works crews will not pick up any items except leaves that have been raked and piled up.

*Residents are responsible for any hazards created by the placement of leaves

*Drainage structures must be kept clear of leaves during rainstorms or until leaves can be picked up.

The Public Works Department can deliver dump truck loads of leaves to anyone inside the city limits depending on scheduling and available quantities. The minimum amount that will be delivered is one dump truck load, which is about 5 to 6 cubic yards. Sign up by calling 492-6730.
