A Roseburg man was hospitalized after attempting to elude police on Saturday night.
A Roseburg Police report said at about 10:40 p.m. a motorcyclist sped off from a parking lot in the 200 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. The rider allegedly ran a stop sign at Hicks, and accelerated west on Garden Valley., An officer terminated the pursuit at the intersection with Interstate 5 as the rider continued to accelerate.
The officer kept the bike in sight until it turned north on Crouch. The bike was found dumped at the top of that street. The suspect, 39-year old Terry Thomas, was hiding in a carport. He was taken to CHI Mercy Medical Center for examination of foot abrasions, back pain, and road rash. He was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Thomas was cited at the hospital for a felony charge of attempting to elude, attempting to elude on foot, reckless driving, driving while revoked, second-degree criminal trespass and for interfering with police.
