AVIVA OFFERING PHIZER BOOSTER

September 29, 2021 3:40 a.m.

Aviva Health is now offering the Phizer COVID-19 booster to certain groups of people at its Vaccination Clinic.

A release said that comes following recommendations from federal and state health officials that some groups of people who received the Pfizer vaccine can receive a Phizer booster after six months.

Aviva said those who should receive a booster dose include:

*Adults age 65 and older and those living in long-term care facilities

*Adults age 50-64 with underlying medical conditions or who are at increased risk of social inequities

Those who may receive a booster dose include:

*Adults age 18 through 64 with underlying medical conditions or who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of where they work or live, such as teachers, grocery store employees, health care workers, and people who live in congregate care settings

The release said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention strongly recommends equity as a factor in who receives a booster dose so people disproportionately affected by long-standing health care inequities can access the care they need.

Aviva Vice President of Community Health Christin Rutledge said COVID-19 continues to have a devastating impact. Rutledge said while breakthrough cases can occur, fully vaccinated individuals are far less likely to require hospitalization and even less likely to die.

The clinic is at 4221 Northeast Stephens, near Costco. Clinic hours are weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those eligible for the booster must call 492-2067 to schedule an appointment for vaccination.
