3 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 116 more people have received new positive test results, and 3 more are presumptive, as of Monday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Update listed data reported between Saturday and Monday.

The new deaths include:

*A 50-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 16th and passed away on Friday. He was not vaccinated.

*A 46-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 26th and passed away on Saturday. She was not vaccinated.

*An 83-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 25th and passed away on Friday. He was fully vaccinated.

The update said the total number of cases is now at 10,739. Of those, 10,422 are people that have received positive test results and 317 are presumptive. 88 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 52 locally and 26 outside the area, including 1 that has been transferred out of state. 22 ventilators and 8 BiPap machines are in use. 15 COVID positive patients are in the Intensive Care Unit and 13 are in the Progressive Care Unit. 49 percent of the total hospitalized patients at CHI Mercy Medical Center are COVID positive. 78 out of the 88 COVID positive patients are not fully vaccinated.

The update said the county’s weekly COVID-19 new case numbers are trending down. The surge of local cases peaked the week of August 21st with 1,274 cases. The week ending this past Saturday had 436 new cases, which is about one-third of the cases reported during the August peak. The number of local residents hospitalized for COVID-19 peaked on September 7th.
