The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Umpqua National Forest and for the Southern Oregon Cascades.
Forecasters said the warning is in effect from 1:00 pm. Thursday through 9:00 a.m. Friday. Lightning and high fire danger will likely result in new fire starts. Gusty thunderstorm winds could contribute to fire spread.
Forecasters said despite rainfall, initial attack resources would be overwhelmed and holdover fires are possible.
The affected area includes the eastern portion of the Umpqua National Forest to the east of Toketee Falls.
