A Eugene man died in a head-on crash east of Reedsport on Friday night.

A report from Oregon State Police said just after 8:40 p.m. personnel responded to the wreck on Highway 138 near milepost 3.  A preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV driven by 50-year old Robyn Loonam, was eastbound when the driver lost control and crossed into the westbound lane, colliding with another SUV driven by a 32-year old from New York state. The first SUV had been the subject of a driving complaint several minutes prior to the crash.

Loonam sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. The second driver was transported by air ambulance to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. A passenger in the second vehicle was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital with injuries.

Highway 38 was closed for two hours following the crash. OSP was assisted by a number of other agencies.
