DRIVER HOSPITALIZED FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE

The driver was hospitalized following a single vehicle wreck on Monday.

A report from the Oregon State Police said at about 12:25 a.m. an eastbound sedan left Highway 138W a few miles west of Sutherlin. The vehicle went off the right-hand shoulder of the road, struck an Oregon Department of Transportation traffic sign, crossed a driveway, struck several trees and came to rest at the bottom of an embankment.

The report said the operator of the vehicle, a 58-year old man, was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center with non- life-threatening injuries. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and had to be towed away. The driver said he fell asleep prior to the crash. No citations were issued.
