1 more person has died related to COVID-19 and 140 more people have received new positive test results, as of Friday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Update said 4 more people died related to COVID-19, 242 more people received positive test results, and 3 presumptive moved to positive with a positive test result, as of Thursday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the 106th death was a 50-year old man. The 107th death was a 73-year old woman. Both were diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 3rd and passed away on Wednesday. The 108th death was an 84-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 12th and passed away on Tuesday. He was fully vaccinated. The 109th death was an 87-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 15th and passed away on Thursday. The 110th death was an 88-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 11th and passed away on Thursday. He was fully vaccinated.

The update said the total number of cases is now at 7,019. Of those, 6,747 are people that have received positive test results and 272 are presumptive. 61 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 52 locally and 9 outside the area, including 1 that had to be transferred out of state. 16 ventilators are in use and 13 COVID-positive patients are in the Intensive Care Unit. 55 of the 61 hospitalized are not vaccinated.

The reporting of the numbers of people in isolation or quarantine continues to be suspended due to the large surge in local cases.

Between August 8th and August 14th another 883 people age 16 and above were added to the vaccine rolls in Douglas County. That means 55,175 people, or 58.4 percent of residents age 16 and above, have received at least one dose of vaccine, according to information supplied by Douglas County.
