A duplex is uninhabitable following an early morning fire on Monday.
Fire Marshal Brian Jewell of the Roseburg Fire Department said just before 12:30 a.m. crews were dispatched to the residential structure fire in the 1000 block of West Nevada Court. Jewell said the first report indicated that a porch was on fire, next to the home of the person calling dispatch.
Firefighters arrived to find the multi-family residential duplex with fire and smoke showing from the front porch of one unit. Jewell said the fire quickly spread to the residential structure. Firefighters made an exterior attack to extinguish the fire, conducted a primary and secondary search, secured utilities and completed overhaul. Three adults, three children and one dog were displaced due to the fire, but no one was injured.
Jewell said an investigator determined that the fire was caused by an unattended cooking device and was found to be accidental. A number of other agencies assisted firefighters at the fire.
