The Devil’s Knob Complex, a group of lightning-caused fires, with the majority burning on the Tiller Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest, is 13 percent contained and is burning in 7,766 acres.

An update from Northwest Incident Management Team 8 said as fires become contained and mopped up in the southern portion of the complex, resources are being relocated to the central and northern portions of the complex and to other priority fires. 19 fires within the complex are considered contained, controlled or out. Two burnouts were conducted on the Big Hamlin Fire on Saturday night and mop up along the western flank continues. That fire is burning in just over 5,000 acres.

A heavy equipment group is nearing completion of indirect containment line on a portion of the Smith Fire, which is burning in just over 1,250 acres.

The update said that the firefighting resources on the Devil’s Knob Complex are also responsible for conducting initial attack operations on the entire Tiller Ranger District and private land holdings. Firefighters are prepared to respond to any initial fire starts.
