The Great Basin Team 2, an incident management team, has assumed command of the Rough Patch Complex and the Jack Fire, burning on the Umpqua National Forest.

An update said fire crews have made headway bolstering containment lines on the Chaos Fire, while keeping it from moving farther west or south. The update said work continues mopping up along containment lines, conducting direct attack where feasible, and indirect attack where appropriate, based on weather, fuels, and topography.

Operations on the Jack Fire are focusing on strengthening containment lines while working on additional indirect lines to keep fire from moving west. The South Chilcoot Fire is now on patrol status as firefighters continue to monitor the containment lines ensuring they remain secure. Throughout the fire zones, firefighters are working to secure and reinforce about 70 miles of primary, alternate and contingency line, while also suppressing fires that have cross containment lines and engaging any spot fires.

The Roseburg District of the Bureau of Land Management has expanded its closure area to include Scaredman Recreation site. Francis Creek Road from the junction with Canton Creek Road north to the district boundary remains closed.

The Jack Fire is 54 percent contained and is burning in 23,646 acres. The Rough Patch Complex is 3 percent contained, burning in 12,271 acres. 575 personnel are working on the Jack Fire and the Rough Patch Complex.
