An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect from Thursday morning through Friday evening for central Douglas County and surrounding areas.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said dangerously hot conditions with afternoon temperatures up to 106 degrees are possible. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.

The Excessive Heat Watch also includes Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland.

Forecasters said the extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
