A Washington man was arrested after he allegedly resisted being taken into custody, and struck two deputies with his vehicle on Thursday.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 10:30 a.m. a deputy made contact with the driver of a vehicle that was pulled over on the side of the road in the 1600 block of John Long Road, north of Oakland. O’Dell said the deputy learned that the driver, 30-year old Elliot Dussalt of Kent, Washington, had an arrest warrant for robbery in Washington state. The deputy, assisted by another, tried to get Dussalt to leave the vehicle but he reportedly refused. O’Dell said the man put his vehicle in reverse and struck both deputies. O’Dell said the vehicle ran over one of the deputy’s legs before striking the driver’s side of a parked patrol vehicle.

O’Dell said Dussalt was confronted at gun point and was taken into custody. One deputy sought medical attention for his injuries at CHI Mercy Medical Center.

Dussalt was charged with assault on a public safety officer, 2nd degree assault, attempt to elude, criminal mischief in both the 1st and 2nd degree, 1st degree escape, reckless driving, reckless endangering, resisting arrest, DUII controlled substance, and for unlawful possession of a controlled substance. After arraignment, Dussalt was detained on $200,000 bail.
