Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains in the area of the base of Mt. Nebo.

Captain Tim Fox of Oregon State Police in Salem released that information to News Radio 1240 KQEN just before 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Since late Saturday, detectives with OSP, Douglas County Medical Examiner Craig Kinney, Search and Rescue crew members and others have been seen combing the base of the mountain, just west of both Interstate Five and the southbound on ramp to the freeway.
