Fire season is underway in the area.

The Douglas Forest Protective Association, the Umpqua National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management made a joint announcement earlier in the week.

All private, county, state and Bureau of Indians Affairs lands in the Douglas District as well as public lands within the Umpqua National Forest and Roseburg District BLM are included in the fire season declaration. It imposes certain fire restrictions on the public and industrial operators to prevent wildfires.

The DFPA has implemented Public Use Restrictions and the BLM Roseburg District has issued a Fire Prevention Order for BLM-administered lands as well. These fire prevention restrictions are put in place to ensure fire prone activities do not start wildfires.

The entire Douglas District and the Umpqua National Forest have a fire danger level designated as low with an Industrial Fire Precaution Level at 1. During IFPL 1, smoking is prohibited while working on, or traveling through an industrial operation. In addition, specified fire tools and suppression equipment must be on site and ready for use at all industrial operations, and a fire watch is required once work has completed for the day.
