MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT

A Sutherlin area man was jailed for an alleged assault, on Saturday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 11:15 a.m. a deputy responded to the report of an assault in the 9000 block of Non-Pariel Road. Deputies contacted 33-year old Marvin Shoemaker II who claimed another man was going to assault him.

The second man said there had been a disturbance the previous in which Shoemaker had assaulted another man. The victim was contacted and told deputies that Shoemaker had pushed him from behind, causing him to fall into a couch. The victim said that during the fall he injured his ribs and had prolonged pain. He believed that some of his ribs were broken. He asked that Shoemaker be arrested.

Deputies took Shoemaker into custody without incident. He was charged with fourth-degree assault and was released from custody on Sunday.
