14 more people have received new positive test results for COVID-19 in Douglas County and there is 1 new presumptive case, as of Sunday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said case numbers are creeping back up and with the virus sweeping the rest of the world with a fourth surge due to more aggressive variants, the county is seeing more and more cases in younger people, especially teenagers. He said on top of that, almost all of the cases are from people that have not been vaccinated. Dannenhoffer said he is urging all residents who haven’t already done so, to consider getting the vaccine.

An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said the total number of cases is now at 3,174. Of those, 3,019 are people that have received positive test results and 155 are presumptive. There have been 70 deaths. 8 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 5 locally and 3 outside the area. 104 people are in isolation. 333 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 437 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is an increase of 36 people since Saturday and an increase of 164 people since Friday.
