A male transient was jailed for an alleged attempted burglary on Sunday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report at about 10:45 p.m. dispatchers received a report of a man attempting to break into the Dollar General Store on North Umpqua Highway in Glide. The report said units responded and located a large metal cart in front of the front doors. A strange note was allegedly left by the front door.
Deputies were not able to locate anyone at that time. A man was later found in the middle of Highway 138 near Colliding Rivers. The man was talking about things on the note and eventually admitted to trying to break into the store to steal a pack of cigarettes.
The 49-year old was charged with attempted burglary and for second-degree criminal mischief. Bail was set at $56,250.
