ESCAPED DEBRIS BURN LEADS TO FIRE IN AZALEA AREA

April 16, 2021 4:00 a.m.

Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association dealt with an escaped debris burn that led to a quarter of an acre fire on Starveout Creek Road in Azalea on Thursday night.

Information from DFPA said with unseasonable warm, dry and windy conditions, this is not a great time to burn. Residents are asked to consider holding off on burning any additional piles until conditions improve. Those who have already burned this spring are asked to go back and check the area to make sure the pile is completely out.

The fire was mopped up by around 8:00 p.m.
