9 more people have received new positive test results for COVID-19 in Douglas County, as of Thursday.

An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said the total number of cases is now at 3,029. Of those, 2,883 are people that have received positive test results and 146 are presumptive. There have been 65 deaths. 7 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 5 locally and 2 outside the area. 84 people are in isolation. 221 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 305 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is a decrease of 40 people since Wednesday.

The update said DPHN is currently following several church outbreaks. In one case, over 15 people at a single church have been infected. Secondary cases have been noted at several local businesses, health care facilities and schools. One of the people tied to that outbreak was identified to have the B 1.429 variant. That variant was first noted in southern California and is 20 percent more contagious and has the ability to be more resistant to previous infection or vaccinations.
