PROCLAMATION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK

Douglas County Commissioners have issued a proclamation for Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which is underway through Saturday.

The Board asked all citizens in the county to honor and thank the 911 communicators at the Douglas County 911 Center as well as the dispatchers that work for the City of Reedsport.

The proclamation was presented at Wednesday’s weekly business meeting by Commissioner Chris Boice. Boice said, “We know we can rely on the dedication and professionalism of our 911 communicators who answer 911 emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services, and dispatch appropriate assistance as quickly as possible”. Boice said the dedicated 911 communicators are often the sole lifeline to police, fire and medical response personnel in the field and “…serve as a vital link between our residents and the public safety providers who save lives, protect property and apprehend criminals”.

The proclamation was presented to Douglas County 911 Communications Manager Tom Cross, Communications Supervisor Heather Gray and Communications Officer Melissa Briggs.
