CHI Mercy Health Mercy Medical Center has been named one of the 2021 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the United States by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
A release said regarded as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance, the annual Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals award is based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX.
Mercy’s president and CEO, Kelly Morgan said, “This is great recognition of the amazing care that Mercy provides and assurance to our community that we provide excellent care”. Morgan said Mercy will continue their focus on providing community members with the best care possible and experience close to home, “…because we agree with the Chartis team, that Douglas County residents deserve access to excellent care”.
The release said based entirely on public data and utilizing 36 independent indicators, the INDEX assesses rural hospitals across eight pillars of performance, including market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost charge, and financial efficiency. It said that hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility scored in the top 100 among all rural and community hospitals nationally. Mercy was one of only three Oregon hospitals to make the list.
Morgan said that to be among those hospitals recognized by Chartis is an honor.
