February 21, 2021 3:40 a.m.

Blue Zones Project Umpqua is celebrating Monday, after the Umpqua Valley recently became a Blue Zones Project Certified Community.

The virtual event will be held on Zoom, starting at 6:22 p.m. Nick Buettner from Blue Zones national organization will participate to share some of the local achievements, and what the designation means. There will be some testimonies from the last three years, games, prizes and more. Juliete Palenshus said the local organization would not have been possible without the state-wide support of Cambia Health. Local funders include CHI Mercy Health and the Mercy Foundation, Ford Family Foundation, Umpqua Health Alliance, Cow Creek, Douglas Education Service District, Adapt and the City of Roseburg.

At 5:15 p.m. Blue Zones will have a video event at the corner of Jackson and Oak in Downtown Roseburg. Blue Zones shirts will be available for those who do not have them.

The Blue Zones celebration on Zoom is presented by Brooke Communications.
