A Roseburg man was jailed after an alleged trespass incident on Wednesday.

A report from Roseburg Police said just after 1:00 p.m. officers responded to Sherm’s Thunderbird Market on Northwest Stewart Parkway for a reported trespass complaint. The report said that Russell Surkamer had been previously trespassed from the store’s property and was back, refusing to leave. The suspect also had a warrant out for his arrest.

The report said the 65-year old locked himself in his vehicle and refused to communicate with officers. After negotiating with him for approximately an hour, the officer deployed pepper spray into the vehicle, causing Surkamer to exit. After a brief struggle, he was arrested without further incident.

Charges included resisting arrest, interfering with a police officer, second degree criminal trespass, and for a warrant that was out for his arrest. Bail was set at $27,500.
