A Tiller man was arrested on Tuesday, accused of interfering with police.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 12;30 p.m. a deputy was conducting a theft investigation from a business in the 300 block of North Main in Canyonville.

The report said a man came around the corner and started talking to the deputy’s suspect. The man accused the deputy of using his authority to harass the woman. The man was told to leave because he was interfering with the investigation, but he refused. At one point he came towards the deputy postured in a threatening manner, according to the report.

The man was told he was under arrest but said he wasn’t and started backing away as the deputy tried to take him into custody. A taser was pointed at the man and he was given commands to put his hands behind his back, which he refused to do. Another deputy arrived and the two deputies used physical control to take the man into custody.

52-year old Daniel Schrack was charged with two counts of assaulting a public safety officer, resisting arrest and interfering with police. He was taken to jail.

The deputies sustained minor injuries during the incident.
