A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night through 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, with the snow level lowering to 1,500 feet, for a wide area of the region.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are expected between 1,500 feet and 3,000 feet, with 4 to 9 inches at elevations above 3,000 feet. Localized snow amounts in the higher terrain may accumulate up to 12 to 13 inches. Winds will gust up to 45 miles per hour.
The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties, eastern Curry County, and the south-central Oregon Cascades including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake. The passes on Interstate Five between Canyonville and Sunny Valley may also be impacted.
Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Gusty winds could bring down trees. Wet snow may mix down to the valley floors in some locations Wednesday morning, but is not expected to accumulate.
