WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR TUESDAY TO WEDNESDAY MORNING

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday through 4:00 a.m. Wednesday for parts of central Douglas County above 1,500 feet.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a much stronger, more wet and cold low-pressure system is expected to bring heavy snow to some areas of southern Oregon and northern California. 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected for higher elevations with winds gusting to 45 miles per hour.

The Advisory area includes Azalea and Tiller and portions of Interstate Five including the Smith, Stage and Canyon Creek passes. Also included is a portion of route 227 near Tiller.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult. The heaviest snow is forecast to be between late Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night.
