TWO HURT IN TWO-VEHICLE WRECK NEAR AZALEA

Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate Five near Azalea on Wednesday afternoon.

A report from Oregon State Police said just after 1:00 p.m. staff with the Oregon Department of Transportation was conducting a traffic slow down for a maintenance project in the area.

The report said a sedan approached the area headed northbound in the left lane and began to decelerate. A second sedan approached from the rear and was unable to slow down in time. The left front of the second vehicle struck the right rear of the first vehicle, and spun it into the grass median.

The passenger in the first vehicle and the driver of the second people both complained of back pain and were transported to a hospital for evaluation.
