COVID-19 CLAIMS 54 MORE LIVES, STATE DEATH TOLL AT 1,667 AS OF TUESDAY

COVID-19 has claimed 54 lives, raising the state’s death toll to 1,667, as of Tuesday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 1,203 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 127,780. OHA said the rising case count that surged in November and December is one factor that contributed to this record-tying high death count. The new cases include:

*56 in Deschutes County

*53 in Umatilla County

*46 in Klamath County

*39 in Josephine County

*32 in Malheur County

*21 each in Douglas and Yamhill counties

*19 each in Crook and Jefferson counties

*16 in Benton County

*11 each in Clatsop and Hood River counties

*10 each in Polk and Wasco counties

*9 in Coos County

*8 each in Baker and Curry counties

*6 in Lincoln County

*5 in Union County

*4 in Morrow County

*3 in Harney and Lake counties

*2 in Tillamook County

*1 in Columbia and Gilliam counties

OHA reported the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 403, which is 6 fewer than on Sunday. There are 93 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is nine more than on Sunday.

On Tuesday, 10,465 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 6,668 vaccine doses were administered and 3,797 had been administered on previous days but were not entered into the registry until Tuesday. To date, 115,060 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Oregon.
