A Glendale man with warrants for his arrest is wanted after eluding police on Tuesday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 2:30 p.m. units were in the area of Rattlesnake Road in Glendale, when 41-year old John Lenz approached deputies in his vehicle.
A deputy activated the lights on his vehicle and the man sped off at a high-rate of speed down Rattlesnake Road towards Mt. Reuben. The suspect had a significant lead on deputies but they were eventually able to obtain a visual on him.
A deputy continued to close in on Lenz while traveling up the gravel. The report said that during one switch back, the suspect clearly saw that he was being chased. The deputy came around a corner approximately one to one and a half miles up Mt. Reuben and spotted the man’s vehicle, which was unoccupied.
Lenz was spotted down over a bank eluding on foot in extremely thick brush and rugged terrain. The man did not comply with commands to stop. The deputy gave chase but the man ultimately got away.
