Roseburg Public Schools has achieved a clean financial audit again this year.

Superintendent Jared Cordon said the district recently completed its annual auditing process for the 2019-2020 school year and received high marks for its stewardship of public funds.

A release said CPA Mark Damon of KDP Certified Public Accountants presented his firm’s audit report to the School Board in December. The district was awarded an “unmodified opinion”, which is essentially the highest level of assurance possible. The release said the district’s annual audits have achieved this status for the past several years.

Cordon said, “Ensuring that our funding is used appropriately and to the highest benefit of our students is vital to building trust with our stakeholders and local taxpayers”. He said the auditing system provides transparency and assurances that the district has “…the community’s best interests at heart”.

RPS Chief Operations Officer Cheryl Northam said “It is gratifying to have an independent auditor make the determination year after year that we are making wise and responsible financial choices on behalf of our students and our community”.
