An Oakland man was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle on Thursday night.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 5:30 p.m. a deputy located a stolen pickup at the Ranch Motel on John Long Road in the Rice Hill area. The report said the deputy was advised that a man who had a woman with him, was inside a room that the vehicle was parked in front of. Deputies attempted to contact the occupants, without success. The vehicle was towed, as the owner was unable to come get it.

A few hours later the woman was contacted nearby and said the vehicle belonged to the man. The suspect was then contacted at the motel, and admitted to possessing the vehicle.

25-year old Sequoia Meline was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. He was detained on $50,000 bail.
