WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MOUNTAIN AREAS

December 30, 2020 4:00 a.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1:00 p.m. Wednesday through 7:00 a.m. Thursday for the mountain areas of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said snow and blowing snow is expected. 6 to 10 inches of snow are forecast with south winds between 15 and 25 miles per hour, and gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades, the Siskiyou Mountains, Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, Chemult and Crescent.

The heaviest snow is expected late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. Snow will taper off overnight.

Drivers should plan on slippery roads and reduced visibility due to blowing and drifting snow. Gusty winds will bring down tree branches.
