Power was restored early Tuesday after a lengthy outage for about 1,100 members of Douglas Electric Cooperative.
Member Services Director Todd Munsey said power was lost between Elkton and Scottsburg shortly after 5:00 p.m. Monday. Munsey said crews began looking for the problem but because the utility averages six customers for every mile of powerline, there is often a lot of territory to cover. By 10:45 p.m. Munsey said crews literally began going over the river and through the woods on foot.
A downed wire was located around 11:00 p.m. Work began to cut a trail into it so it could be put back up. Power was back on at about 1:45 a.m.
