STATE POLICE RESPOND TO ACTIVITIES AT OREGON STATE CAPITOL

Troopers with Oregon State Police responded to protest activities at the Oregon State Capitol on Monday.

The protests took place while the Oregon State Legislature was in session.

An OSP release said while dealing with some individuals that had gained entry to the building, troopers were sprayed with some kind of chemical agents on two different occasions.

At 8:30 a.m. when protestors entered the capitol, at least one of them used chemical agents on police. That person is outstanding. OSP used inert pepper ball, while dealing with the protestors.

At 10:30 a.m. OSP and Salem Police used their resources to push the crowd out of the building. Another person allegedly used bear spray against police officers. That person was identified as 41-year old Ryan Lyles. He was detained on multiple charges including trespassing and assaulting a police officer.
