MAN JAILED FOR BURGLARY AND FIRE

A California man was jailed for a reported burglary and fire in Canyonville on Wednesday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 5:00 a.m. units responded to the 100 block of Gazley Road. Myrtle Creek Police arrived first and detained a man that was found in a shed. A deputy found that the door of the building had been forced open and that a fire had been started inside. The report said it appeared to be a warming fire and only a small amount of damage had been caused.

41-year old Eric Beck was charged with first degree arson, second degree counts of burglary, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct, reckless burning and for a warrant. Beck was held on $437,500 bail.
