Sutherlin Police jailed a man on strangulation and felony assault charges on Sunday.

An SPD report said that morning just after 1:30 a.m. a juvenile reported a domestic disturbance between Jason Smith and a female victim. The report said the victim was found to have several scrapes, a knot on her head and strangulation marks on her neck.

Smith allegedly admitted to putting his hands on the victim’s neck along with hitting her on the side of the head. The juvenile said they heard the disturbance from outside the residence.

The 45-year old Smith was held on $100,000 bail.
