A motorcyclist died following a collision with a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Roseburg.
Sergeant Jeff Eichenbusch of Roseburg Police said at around 2:30 p.m. emergency personnel responded to the accident at the corner of Northwest Edenbower and Northwest Broad. Eichenbusch said it was reported that a motorcycle was going south on Edenbower and collided with an SUV that was turning from Broad onto Edenbower.
The report said the motorcyclist was ejected and partially trapped underneath the vehicle. The rider, 38-year old John Hillebrand of Dallas, was extricated by Roseburg Fire Department personnel and was transported to Mercy Medical for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Hillebrand was later transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, for further care. Eichenbusch said on Sunday, the man’s family advised investigating officers that Hillebrand had died of his injuries.
The Roseburg Police Department had a reconstructionist investigate the accident. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this investigation. The motorist, a 68-year old Roseburg woman, was not injured and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
Eichenbusch said at this time, there is no evidence to believe that impairment was a factor in the collision.
