A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Crater Lake, Diamond Lake and other areas in the southern Oregon Cascades above 4,000 feet through 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said periods of moderate to heavy snowfall are expected. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are forecast. Winds are slated to gust as high as 40 miles per hour.

Forecasters said travel could be difficult with low visibility and slippery roads.
