The deadline looms for survivors of the recent wildfires to apply for disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Nate Custer of FEMA said the deadline is Monday. To apply go to: https://www.disasterassistance.gov/, use the FEMA app or call 800-621-3362.
Custer said property owners must sign a Right of Entry access agreement to allow cleanup crews to enter their private property to remove wildfire debris. The Environmental Protection Agency is continuing to work on the cleanup. Custer said this is the first step in the cleanup process and must be completed before ash and debris removal. For information on how to submit the Right of Entry form, call 682-800-5737 or go to: https://www.co.douglas.or.us/.
Oregon’s Debris Management Task Force is leading hazardous waste cleanup, prioritized due to the immediate threat to health, safety and the environment.
