The American Red Cross still has an urgent need for blood donations to prevent another blood shortage.

A release said donors are needed to make and keep scheduled appointments to help meet the current need. Those who are healthy and eligible to donate blood or platelets are asked to make an appointment as soon as possible. COVID-19 donation measures are in place. Appointments can be made by going to www.redcrossblood.org or by calling 733-2767.

Upcoming blood drives include:

*Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Red Cross Blood Donation Center on Garden Valley Boulevard.

*Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport
