SUTHERLIN CLARIFIES COVID-19 CASE COUNT

October 30, 2020 9:40 a.m.

Officials with the Sutherlin School District have released information to clarify the status of COVID-19 cases in the district.

Superintendent Terry Prestianni said when one student tested positive at East Primary School, staff and families who had been exposed were notified on September 27th and asked to quarantine. Prestianni said later a student and a staff member at the school were considered presumptive cases. Information from the Oregon Health Authority categorized all three cases as positive because the presumptive cases were symptomatic. Prestianni said those cases have been the only COVID incidents in the Sutherlin School District to date.

Prestianni’s release said the district will keep the school community updated with any new information, as it becomes available, while meeting the requirements to honor everyone’s right to privacy.
