OVER 46 PERCENT OF BALLOTS HAVE BEEN RETURNED

Over 46 percent of registered voters have already cast a ballot in the November General Election.

Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis told News Radio 1240 KQEN that 38,831 ballots have been received as of Monday. Loomis said that is over 15 percent ahead of the participation rate for both the 2016 and 2012 Presidential elections.

Of the ballots received, nearly 40 percent have arrived via the U.S. Postal Service while about 22 percent have come directly to the courthouse. The remainder have come from the other drop sites.

Loomis said with the election deadline a week away, it is too late to mail ballots in as postmarks do not count. Voters should utilize one of the 13 official drop sites around the county. A list of those sites can be found at: https://www.co.douglas.or.us/clerk/drop_site_locations.asp

Ballots are due back to the courthouse by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 3rd.
