MAN JAILED ON DRUG CHARGES

Myrtle Creek Police jailed a man on drug charges on Tuesday.

A report from MCPD said just after 1:30 p.m. officers reportedly observed 33-year old Nicholas Bennett walk out of a residence near Laurel and Broadway and knew there was an arrest warrant out for him. As the officer approached, he allegedly saw the suspect put a white substance in his mouth. The report said Bennett then took it out and put it in his jacket pocket.

The officer located the substance which was determined to be methamphetamine. Bennett was charged with unlawful possession of meth, tampering with evidence and for the probation violation warrant. He was detained without bail.
