A release from the Coos Forest Protective Association is warning the public that fire season is still in effect on the lands they protect, and debris burning is still prohibited.
Jef Chase of CFPA said while the area has received some rain so far this fall, it is 30 inches behind the normal rainfall amount for this time of year. Chase said rain forecast for this weekend will help forest fuels begin to recover from a long and dry summer. However, it will not be enough rainfall to end fire season.
Residents living within an incorporated city need to contact their local fire department for burning restrictions and permit details.
