October 8,2020 3:00 a.m.

Greater Douglas United Way continues providing grants to help organizations serving those impacted by the wildfires, through its Fire Relief Fund.

Executive Director Bryan Trenkle said the non-profit has granted $17,500 each to go to the Salvation Army and to the Red Cross, and $10,000 for Glide Revitalization. Trenkle said these groups are the “boots on the ground” in the trenches providing vital services.

Trenkle said the Meyer Memorial Trust has granted $15,000, and Lone Rock Timber Resources has given $10,000 to the Fire Relief Fund in recent days.

To date, over $125,000 has been raised and with this disbursement, $45,000 has been given back out to the community. A second round of disbursements is being planned for later this week.

Trenkle said companies and individuals that want to help the United Way’s effort can donate to www.gduway.org or by mailing a check to United Way at 702 Southeast Jackson in Roseburg, 97470.
