The Archie Creek Fire east of Glide is 91 percent contained.

An update said the Southern Area Red Team will turn over management of the fire on federal lands, to the Pacific Northwest Team 12 Type 2 incident management team, on Tuesday. A Type 3 incident management team with the Douglas Forest Protective Association continues to mop up and patrol fire lines on private lands.

On Sunday, firefighters used a helicopter to drop 8,400 gallons of water to cool a hotspot in steep terrain in the Zig Zag Creek area on the northeast flank of the fire. Firefighters are monitoring the area and will use a helicopter if needed to drop water on it again. Fire behavior analyst Greg Titus said “smoldering will continue”.

An infrared flight Sunday night indicated heat on the southeastern flank of the fire, so firefighters are focusing mop up in that area.

470 people are assigned to the fire.
