A man was taken to the hospital following a rollover accident on Interstate Five Friday morning, and could be facing criminal charges in the case.

A report from Oregon State Police said at 7:00 a.m. troopers were dispatched to a single vehicle wreck in the northbound lanes of the freeway near Yoncalla. The report said the passenger, a 58-year old Roseburg man, was ejected from the sedan and was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, with serious injuries. The driver, a 74-year old woman also from Roseburg, had minor injuries and was transported to her home. After an interview with the driver the case was referred to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for possible criminal charges against the passenger for intentionally causing the driver to crash the vehicle. The passenger was cited for second degree assault, reckless driving and for recklessly endangering another person.

The car was totaled and was towed from the scene.
