A Roseburg man was cited after taking a swing at a police officer on Thursday night.

Information from Roseburg Police said at 11:00 p.m. an officer was attempting to assist a 66-year old man to his room at a motel in the 500 block of Southeast Stephens. The man reportedly slightly connected with the end of the officer’s nose, at which point the officer punched the suspect once, knocking him down.

The suspect was charged with harassment. Neither man was injured. The man was released after being cited.
